Mothers pass on low mood to children study finds
A Yale University study of 220 children links maternal depression to higher risk of major mood disorders in offspring. Researchers led by Dr Myrna Weissman report children of mothers with severe mood issues were nearly three times more likely to develop major low mood, though mechanisms remain unclear. The findings were discussed at the 4th World Congress of Biological Psychiatry.
