Washington reports Rep. Tennyson Guyer of Ohio pressed in 1975 76 for meetings between President Ford and Han cho Kim a Korean born businessman charged in the Capitol Hill influence buying case. A White House lobbyist said requests were for votes not Korea proper with no meetings arranged.

Elyria Catholic ready to defend its state title

Elyria Catholic clinched an undefeated 10-0 regular season with a 7-0 win over Hilliard and earned 21 computer points in the playoff system. West German terrorists move into Holland in new raids

Dutch police, led by Public Prosecutor Nicolaas Meeschaert, arrested two Baader Meinhof members Christian Wackernagel and Gert Richard Schneider amid a shootout that wounded three officers. The men, linked to high profile German killings and a Saarbrucken courthouse bombing, had been living in a safe house since October. Earlier arrests in Utrecht and the Caransa kidnapping case deepen the terror network's Dutch footprint.

Village newsdealer fends off one legged robber

In Greenwich Village a 70 year old blind newsdealer named Jack Furman fought off a robbery attempt by a one legged bandit. A car of five youths led by an amputee 16 year old Bernard Dates pulled up at 6 45 am and Dukes tried to remove cash. Furman hurled metal paperweights and was struck on the head but chased the thief until police arrived. Four other youths were also arrested for involvement. The suspects face charges of attempted robbery assault and possession of a dangerous instrument Duke’s crutch.

Shock probation and parole praised by officials

Burns Seen Likely For A Third Term As Fed Chief

Arthur Burns, head of the Federal Reserve Board, appears to have growing support for a third term before his Jan. 31 expiry. Treasury Secretary Blumenthal testified to the Senate that the administration is aligned with Burns on monetary policy, while Senator Proxmire remained critical. Carter has not decided on Burns.
