Westway Gardens residents hire lawyer amid FHA dispute
Indigent residents of Westway Gardens hire J G Tassie from the Legal Aid Society to speak for them as they protest FHA actions over the sale and management of 164 duplex units. The Bruskin Agency bought the property for 1.81 million dollars, while FHA maintains mortgage control and rent oversight. Residents argue FHA favored ease over individual owner buys and fear rent hikes and high turnover despite a waiting list and a severe local housing shortage making ownership unlikely.
