A Pacific Air Transport mail plane crashed into Whitley Canyon near Van Nuys California killing mechanic Donald Rosticer. Pilot Charles F Widmer, 34, survived by parachute landing about a mile away. Rosticer’s body was found in the wreckage with lifebelt loosened. Widmer is a veteran stunt flyer formerly on the Los Angeles to San Diego route.
