Jailed former bailiff Clarke denied probation by judge
Elyria veteran bailiff Robert A. Clarke, 43, denied probation after a Common Pleas Court judge ruled he must serve six to 25 years for engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity. He was convicted August 7 of drug trafficking related charges and obstruction of justice. The sentences run consecutively as prosecutors note he was a significant Lorain County dealer. Clarke previously lost his municipal court bailiff job following his arrest in August 1991 for bribery and obstruction of justice.

Parks to offer wide variety of programs in Lorain area
Residents can enjoy a range of activities at Carlisle Township and Sheffield Village centers next week. A Carl isle Visitor Center program on aquatic shells runs Sunday with Ohio State University Cooperative Extension’s Charles Behnke presenting composting from 7 to 3:30 p.m. at French Creek Interpretive Center in Sheffield Village. At Carlisle center a Barn Owl session for 5 10 year olds occurs 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. the same day, and a hike to search animal footprints is planned for November 18 at the Carlisle Center.
