A devastating cyclone struck Charles County Maryland on November 10 killing at least eighteen and injuring over forty. The twister ripped a twelve mile path causing widespread destruction including a schoolhouse being hurled from its foundation and more than sixty children and adults affected.
President Coolidge will travel to Kansas City Missouri to dedicate a 2 million dollar Liberty Memorial honoring World War I veterans. After ceremonies he will cross the Kansas River to visit the other Kansas City and spend a night aboard the presidential train amid cold weather along the route.
Cambridge Ohio November 14 relief crews and state mine inspectors re entered the Cleveland Mine of the Cambria Colliery Coal Co to find Pete Secoska 70 a miner missing since Monday. Secoska's cap safety lamp and dinner pail were found near the shaft yesterday.
The Community Chest selects Be A Good Neighbor as the winning slogan. J F Faurer of 22s Fifth Street won the 810 prize but returned the award to the fund. The campaign aims to inspire Elyrians to support welfare efforts.

John Brinker longtime resident and Civil War veteran died at his daughter Ida Blaine’s home after a six hour illness. He served three years in the Civil War and belonged to Richard Allen Post G A R. Survived by three daughters Mrs Ida Blaine, Mrs Eva Blaine, and Mrs Nettie Wiley, a son and wife. Funeral Friday at 2:30 from 205 Harvard Avenue with burial at Fields.
Two cases of scarlet fever were discovered in the health district prompting quarantine measures. The health officer warned of the danger and urged swift action to prevent spread and protect the public.
In Connellsville Pennsylvania a fatal blaze destroyed the three story Newmeyer Opera House. Tenant Robert Freed 25 died after being pulled from smoke clogged stairs by firefighters. A woman named Miss Guller who rented an apartment is missing after a check of all tenants.
Former Interior Secretary Albert B Fall and oil magnate Edward L Doheny appeared in Washington court for arraignment on charges of conspiracy to defraud the government over naval oil reserves in California. The reading was waived, proceedings quick, with additional indictments pending.
A west wind brought the first winter blast to Cleveland on November 10. Flurries of snow with gale forces dropped temperatures from 52 to 30 degrees, closing in for a day or two. Lake Erie whipped by 60 mile winds sent large waves along the lakefront and shipping routes.
