Polls Open as County Records Early Voting Ahead of Election
Lorain County officials expect about 68 to 70 percent turnout from 206 404 registered voters with in person early voting surpassing previous records. Elections Director Paul Adams notes 20 495 in person votes so far as voters decide between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump and weigh local races and ballot issues.

Man arrested after shooting and long chase in Lorain area
A 31 year old Lorain man Charles Torres was taken into custody after a seven hour standoff in Rocky River. Police say Torres shot Francisco Rodriguez 26 in Lorain at 1 37 a m and Rodriguez is in stable condition. SWAT and multiple departments joined in the standoff on Colahan Drive.

Police chief cites protection order in Sheffield Lake shooting
Police say Kristen Bodenski had a protection order against Matthew Holt when he shot her and then killed himself at Holt’s Edgewater Drive home. Holt had prior arrests for domestic violence with Bodenski as victim, and officers arrived as shots were fired during an approaching call.
