LaGrange fire levy approved for new station
Voters in LaGrange and LaGrange Township backed a replacement fire levy 1076 to 666. The Fire and Rescue Department serves both areas and a new station will be built on Village land behind the municipal building on South Center Street. The village will lease land to the township for 1 annually for 49 years, site south of the railroad tracks. Fire Chief Duke Coursen warned that train traffic could block southbound emergency vehicles from the township’s other two stations.
