Obama ends Keystone XL pipeline plan in climate move

President Obama rejected the Keystone XL proposal ending a seven year saga saying its approval would undermine U.S. climate leadership. The decision drew praise from environmentalists and criticism from Republicans and TransCanada while setting up a new front in the 2016 election and trade friction with Canada.

UC Merced stabbing shows no warning signs in attacker

Faisal Mohammad, an 18 year old UC Merced freshman, carried out a planned attack after a study group dispute. He stabbed two students a university employee and a contractor before campus officers shot him. Authorities found a manifesto and reported no links to mental illness or hate groups and no prior police records.
