Twin sisters separate but together in care journey
Makayla and Jazmine Heaberlin were conjoined at birth sharing a heart and diaphragm. Doctors separated them in October 2002. they later required ongoing medical care. Foster parents Grant and Sherrie Gibson, with Muskingum County Children Services, provided a full hospital-scale home care setup and support from nurses. The county plans custody transfer to the twins' maternal uncle, while Kaminski seeks to stay involved. The Gibsons were named foster parents of the year by the Ohio agency.
