Oberlin College resumes on campus interviews after a June meeting of the general faculty. President Robert K. Carr allowed recruiters following a voice vote by the faculty, ending a suspension that began May 7 during protests over Navy officers' campus visit.
UPI reports U.S. Education Commissioner Harold Howe II resigns effective December 31 to join the Ford Foundation. Howe, 50, was the first senior Johnson era official to quit after Nixon's election victory.
Mayor Reichlin says council may enact the 1 percent income tax next meeting, resend to voters in May, or switch to a bond plan. He notes cuts to city services, especially parks and recreation, and the new recreation center could be endangered by funding shortages. The mayor adds the city must protect health and safety as it tightens budgets.
Humphrey holds 12 states and DC for 181 votes and leads Maryland with 10. Nixon carries 30 states for 287 votes and leads Alaska and Missouri with 15. Wallace has 5 states and 45 votes. 270 electoral votes needed to win.

A withdrawal date will be set after townships and Lorain are officially advised.
