Nuns Auction Rare Honus Wagner Card for 262000
Doug Walton of Knoxville bid $262000 to acquire a rare 1909 to 1911 Honus Wagner card sold by the School Sisters of Notre Dame in Baltimore. Proceeds fund the order’s ministries for the poor in 35 countries. Walton cited the back story and charity as factors in paying above estimates. The card, one of about 60 known, is in poor condition and was inherited after a nun’s brother’s death.
