Phillip C. Hill, 23, asserts victory as justice of the Hill. He boasts selling dope including LSD and mescaline, with marijuana growing nearby. Attorney General-elect Vern Miller says he will pursue undercover action once Hill’s background is checked.
At Admiral King High School in Lorain a senior class meeting devolved into chaos. Principal Richard Ackerman declared martial law, vowing to remove any student not in class and warning of his resignation if safety and education cannot be ensured. Police were later called as he addressed students over the school PA.
Judge James A. McCrystal set a November 25 deadline for briefs on the legality of the Elyria Lorain County plan to build a $3 million county administration building. McCrystal, an Erie County Common Pleas judge from Sandusky, sits by special assignment. Lorain County judges had recused themselves. Two suits regarding the construction are scheduled for trial after preliminary meetings with counsel.
A taxpayer Wendell Beal seeks to stop city spending on a new administration building. The plan lets Elyria lease 5 000 square feet for five years at 100 000 and build a county parking deck for up to 700 000. City and county suits seek court approval of the agreement. the cases will be joined and key issues to be briefed to the court.
A pretrial conference heard by Judge McCrystal on a motions agenda to determine constitutionality and questions before further issues. Beal was represented by Atty J William McCray with associate Thomas Smith. city and county by Kosma Glavas Arthur Kola and George Meisel. Elyria Savings and Trust Bank by Atty Fred Snoble. Judge McCrystal assigned by Chief Justice ONeill after local judges withdrew.

Six thousand South Vietnamese troops launched a large land river and air drive across southeastern Cambodia along a 100 mile border. Objectives include halting North Vietnamese infiltration into the Mekong Delta and destroying bases rebuilt near the border.
Along the Suez Canal Egypt Israel and Jordan extended their 9 day cease-fire. Cairo resisted further extensions claiming they would aid Israel’s aim of a permanent truce. Meir said the longer the pause, the harder Egypt will find resuming hostilities. Allon noted the cease-fire will hold if Egypt avoids military moves. Jordan kept to the agreement provided its forces are not attacked.
About half of Appalachian State University’s 3,500 students left the hall when actress Jane Fonda criticized the establishment. Another 25 ROTC students walked out as she urged the elimination of ROTC in colleges.
Detroit sources say GM agreed to revisit cost of living allowance limits and both sides held a long session at the GM building amid a 13 day strike that has idled 400000 workers. Wage gaps remain unresolved with UAW seeking 61 cents an hour and GM offering 38 cents.
