Wilson elected Philadelphia mayor on Republican ticket
Wilson, a former city controller elected on a Democratic ticket, slimly defeated Democrat John B. Kelly in a race for mayor of Philadelphia. With nearly all votes counted, Wilson led by about 47,000 out of a roughly 704,000 total. In other contests, Judge Cunningham narrowly led Myera for superior court. Republicans claimed gains in Scranton and Lackawanna County, while Philadelphia Republican leaders framed the win as a repudiation of Gov. Earle and Roosevelt’s administration.
