Farm income outlook uncertain in corn belt says Brookmire bulletin
Washington reports the Brookmire farm income bulletin notes heavy demand for general merchandise and capital goods in the midwest but corn prices vary by state. Nebraska reports poor market conditions due to rains while December Chicago corn stands at 52 cents. Wheat, cattle, and hog prices show mixed signals with potential gains from better weather and storage, but higher feed costs restrain profits. Overall, farm income in the corn belt appears flat to slightly down from last year with some regional improvements.
