Reverend Paul Calhoun, Port Clinton counselor, dies at 55

The Rev. Paul Howard Calhoun 55 minister and school counselor of Port Clinton died Monday at Firelands Community Hospital Sandusky after a two year illness. He taught 31 years in Port Clinton City Schools and retired in 2001. He was a member of Henrietta United Methodist Church and ordained in Marysville. Survived by wife Nola, a foster son Thomas Shannon Derivan and a foster daughter Shellene Royster. Burial in Wakeman Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday 6 to 8 pm and prior to services Thursday at 11 am. Memorials to American Lung Association.

Jealous ex-boyfriend kills three in Cincinnati double murder suicide

In Cincinnati three people died from gunshot wounds in what police call a murder suicide. A survivor called 9 1 1 from a condominium bedroom as the shooter, a man, attacked the woman and another man before turning the gun on himself. Victims were identified as Duke 19 Tipple 20 and Joyce 23. Police say motive appears rooted in jealousy and there is no ongoing threat.

Avon Lake water utility plans bond funded sewer upgrades

The department serves 185000 people over 600 square miles and expanded from 27 to 40 million gallons daily last summer, with projections to 50 million next year. Elyria woman indicted on reported incident charges

Elyria 30 year old Holly S. Apple was indicted by a Lorain County grand jury on three counts each of reported incident gross sexual imposition and disseminating matter harmful to juveniles and one count of child endangering. Three victims under 13 named. Apple held on $100000 bond. She has prior theft and bad checks convictions and pending cases including misuse of a credit card and tampering with evidence.
