Millions in US orders loom as NYC bills spark anxiety
In New York City, 14 000 suppliers nationwide call City Hall about paying for 500 million dollars in goods, including 300 million in subway cars. Vendors like Airport Motors fear nonpayment could ripple through auto parts, meat, and glass industries. Mayor Beame notes unpaid city bills are a national issue, while NYC signs no new long term contracts, only short term perishable purchases.
