Lorain County Returns Show Coolidge Plurality in Lorain

Complete county results indicate Calvin Coolidge carried Lorain by 9 092 votes over La Follette, with Harry Davis winning the county by 230 votes against Donahey. Sheriff Underhill, the sole Democrat winner, was re elected by 937 over Republican Bob Rogers, as Elyria’s 940 vote plurality ensured his victory. County levies and multiple offices showed mixed outcomes across the board.

Ohio returns show Coolidge leading Davis 715,858 to 293,130 and LaFollette 236,425 in president tallies from 503 precincts. Governor results from 4,526 precincts give Donahey 599,488 to Davis 428,148, with Donahey widening his edge and Davis repudiated locally. Governor Donahey calls it a vote of confidence and pledges reform and efficiency.

Radio reports beat telegraph by minutes, aided by Sven D Neilsen’s heterodyne set. Nelson built the set and claims the largest in Elyria. Shooting at Huntington Election Celebration Kills Several

In Huntington on November 3 Tohn White, 24, a Black man, was shot dead during post election celebrations. Lon Rose, a taxi driver, was charged with murder as multiple brawls left half a dozen injured and Casey Jones, a known boxer, killed by an unknown foe. An unidentified man reportedly shot himself after failing to pay election bets.
