ISHPEMING Mich Nov A new shaft was prepared after seven miners were recovered on the North Lamine level of the Barnes-Maeker mines. A hidden pocket of quicksand flooded the shaft trapping workers and blocking air vents. Captain William Tinpert and Mine Inspector William F Hill were among those recovered. Officials say no one else could have survived the disaster.
In Somerville New Jersey on the Hall Mills double murder trial witness Halph Gorshue, a vestryman, testifies he heard voices and shots from the Lovers Lane area near the crime scene. He details parking by the Crabapple tree and hearing three shots plus a woman’s scream before leaving to view the body.
In Los Angeles on November 4, Mrs. Aimee Semple McPherson, her mother Minnie Kennedy, and Mrs. Lorain Wiseman-Sielaff were ordered held for trial in the superior court within sixty days after a five week preliminary hearing. Late news from Port Arthur reports a large fire near Beaumont destroying property worth about 2500 dollars and seriously burning several men. The blaze began in a well at Rew Raves Of Company and spread rapidly, causing extensive damage and injuries before being controlled.
