Housewives Targeted By Fake Package Scams Warned
H. D. Kennedy, general manager of the Newark Better Business Bureau, spoke at the bureau’s seventh anniversary about ongoing frauds. The talk highlighted counterfeit gifts and shoddy merchandise as major current schemes, noting the bureau handled over 357 thousand complaints in twenty five years and 28 thousand in 1947. Kennedy urged constant vigilance to protect families from prominent con artists and warned that promoters lure victims with small deposit entrance fees.
