Government charges in Salter testimony on Insull stock fraud
The government asserts that 360000 people lost 8145 700 000 as Salter, in his direct testimony, claims he and his son and sister profited by selling securities of an Insull firm to other firms. The witness appeared shrewd yet indignant as he faced a barrage of questions and adjournment left him wilted. Salter planned to scrutinize the 1901 1902 period when Corporation Securities Company stock was promoted by mail worldwide as a top investment, a crash later wiping out thousands and blamed as a major trigger of a prolonged downturn.
