Elyria man dies after house fire blaze victim identity released
An Elyria man burned in a house fire Tuesday at his home in Elyria Melle Home Park died Friday at MetroHealth Medical Center. Gerald Fitzpatrick, 64, was pronounced dead at 10:46 am, with autopsy planned. He was a familiar presence at Elyria Catholic High School games, holding the down marker for years, and his family recalled his work ethic and support for siblings and his son John C. Fitzpatrick of North Royalton.

Tragic Trick-or-Treating Accident In Chatham Township
A nine year old Spencer boy was seriously injured Friday when he ran into a van along Route 83 in Chatham Township. The child, wearing an all black costume with no lights, was hit as he crossed the road from west to east. He was taken to Akron Children's Hospital in critical condition after initial treatment at Lodi Community Hospital. Local troopers name Anthony Tyree, 43, of LaGrange, the accompanying driver. he was uninjured.
