Lorain County Eyes Four Story Annex Across Third Street
Elyria architect Ron Landig says preliminary plans for a four story annex with a connecting bridge to the five story Lorain County Administration Building will be ready in about a week and a half. The project aims to consolidate county offices and relieve overcrowding, with floor plans exterior sketches and cost estimates in the study. Landig works on speculation with no payment unless he wins the bid. commissioners have discussed the plan informally and may not hold a public hearing yet. The site at Middle Avenue and Third Street, once the county jail, would house county offices including regional planning litter control personnel and disaster services, and could also relocate the law library and microfilmed records. The annex would occupy most or all of the county-owned lot, currently used for parking by St Mary’s parish.
