Lorain residents remembered World War I heroes at a memorial service in the Lorain Palace Theater. Jim Smith highlighted Katherine Burgett, one of two Lorain women to serve as Red Cross nurses in 1918, who died aged 30 after the war.

Grafton VFW Adds Historic Spanish American War Grave Marker

Grafton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3341 trustee John Lescher cleans dirt from a 400 pound grave marker for CPL George Schmidt of the 5th Ohio Infantry. The marker dates to the Spanish American War era and is the oldest item in the Soldiers of History room. The post plans a second space at Elm Street Studios to house artifacts and ease crowding.
