Ohio to Diversify Industry to Attract Growth
Paul Craig, chairman of the declining industries group, told 460 attenders at the Ohio Labor Management Conference that Ohio and the nation face a recession unless growth industries are promoted. He urged new taxes to fund education, medical facilities, and transportation to lure expanding sectors like services, while noting old skills fail in changing markets. Hesitant to rely on steel autos and glass, he called for diversification and faster growth to stabilize government finances and raise employment.
