Lorain man killed in motorcycle crash on Pearl Road
John McMahon Jr. 23, of 1672 Elfreda Ave Lorain, died after his southbound motorcycle skidded at a curve and struck the front of Steve Janik’s car at 3 44 p m on Pearl Road. Janik 30 of Elyria said he stopped and that McMahon suffered a punctured lung and ruptured spleen. The county’s 28th traffic death this year.

Fearful freighter missing after sinking in St Lawrence
A 600 ton freighter named B. F. with 11 aboard is missing and presumed sunk in the St Lawrence River. The iron hulled converted coal ship left St. Anne Des Monts May 13 bound for Three Rivers with pulpwood. debris and lifejackets were found along the south shore 250 miles northeast of Quebec City. Captain Charles Noel Bernier of Machin, Quebec, piloted the vessel under charter to the St. Lawrence Corporation of Three Rivers.
