Google Wallet aims to replace wallets with phone based payments
Google launches a trial of its Wallet payment system in San Francisco and New York with MasterCard and Citibank. The program will roll out to consumers in summer and expand nationwide. The Nexus S 4G on Sprint will be the initial device, connecting only to MasterCard PayPass terminals, of which about 135,000 exist in the U.S. A single tap on the terminal completes the payment.
