Local businesses stepped in pledging to pay security costs and rally needs as Bike Week runs June 5 to 14, with dealers and hotels contributing support. Roeder Harley-Davidson had been the main sponsor and planned events, but foreclosures led to renewed hopes for next year.

Former congressman Dennis Eckart, a board member, calls the project a bridge too far while hoping one or two cars can be restored for a future Cleveland commuter rail line.
