Voter turnout climbs in Ohio in 2004 election
Census figures show higher turnout for both whites and blacks than in 2000 with blacks rising more. 35 percent of 18 to 24 year olds voted, down from 37 percent last cycle. About 5.7 million registered voters cast ballots, an increase of 700,000 from 1992 levels, while overall turnout was 72 percent. Gambier saw hours long waits due to faulty equipment as Kenyon College students, including Rob Sussman, cast ballots in a close race.
