Hands Across America reaches Avon Lake in Ohio
In Avon Lake Ohio Hands Across America was a success as 1300 local volunteers lined Lake Road to form a mile long chain. Organizers hoped six million nationwide would join to raise money for the hungry and homeless. Residents helped, traffic was rerouted and a community scrapbook souvenir was planned by a participant who wanted grandchildren to know she stood in line.
