Two Companions Survive North Ridge Tragedy
A Dodge tourer carrying five Cleveland youths crashed off a 75 foot cliff into Black River around 3am Sunday on North Ridge road. Three youths died: Raymond Meyers 20 Roy Wilbur 21 and John Dugan 18. Two others Patrick Gleason 21 and Edward Barrett 19 survived with injuries. Dugan’s body was later recovered entangled in barbed wire. Barrett and Gleason were hospitalized in stable condition. Police and emergency crews retrieved bodies and investigated the scene as thousands visited the site. Nearby accidents were reported on the Cleveland road with two women injured and a separate minor crash at West Avenue and Second Street.
