Maverick Roller Coaster Set for Saturday Launch
The Maverick ride at Cedar Point will open this Saturday after track stress issues delayed its June debut. The $21 million coaster features a 105-foot hill, 95-degree drop, inversions, and a 360-degree roll, with a 52 inch height minimum. The first 3,000 riders Saturday through Monday receive free Maverick T-shirts.

The Chronicile Telegram reports Lorain County temperatures nearly reached the 90 degree 1990 record while Elyria Catholic High School allowed students to loosen ties. Paramedics and firefighters reported no heat exhaustion calls as temps head toward the 70s. Humidity stood at 67 percent with Toledo at 90 and Mansfield at 85, driven partly by a warm front.
