The Elyria school board unanimously named Daren Conley the new principal of Elyria High, replacing Dianne Quinn after 36 years. Conley, 45, said he grew up in Elyria and attended Elyria Schools, with plans to bring change when school opens in August.
Craig Phillips 53, longtime assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction, was chosen to lead North Ridgeville City Schools. He will start July 1 under a four year contract at 124000 annually, with board approval slated for June 17. Phillips began his career in 1977 as a learning disabilities teacher in North Ridgeville.

A water main rupture under the Olive Garden parking lot in Elyria forced the restaurant to shut down on Friday. Manager Matt Wade said the line feeding the restaurant was ruptured and would be shut off. Staff and patrons were able to leave safely while vehicles were moved away from the damaged area.
