Valley City woman dies in Route 303 crash on son’s birthday

A Valley City woman Joanne Foecking 86 and Bay Village man Patrick Patton 22 died when Foecking’s pickup driven by Patton veered off Route 303 near Medina County. She was returning home for her son’s seventh birthday after visiting the Kidron auction.

Indians Edge Blue Jays In Two-Hitter at Cleveland Stadium

Indians score night boosts Citizens Night turnout at Cleveland Stadium

A 3 1 Indians win over the Blue Jays on Citizens Night drew 61 340 fans to Cleveland Stadium. Mary Agnes Teleha from Lorain nearly matched the night attendance with a guess of 61 307, missing by 33. Cleveland leaders hailed the crowd as proof the city remains a baseball town and credited the Indians 10 game winning streak with boosting attendance to 331 372 at home this year.

Grafton man loses 17 year battle with diabetes

Kevin Younglas 28 of 1960 Indian Hollow Rd Grafton died at 4 45 am at Cleveland Clinic after a kidney and pancreas transplant on March 28 failed due to infection. His mother said autopsy would determine cause. he suffered infection and blood pressure collapse amid complications from surgery.

Kokinda charged in Lorain gambling raid

Former Lorain city official James Kokinda Jr faces gambling house charges after police raided the Russo Slay Club at 516 E 28th Street discovering poker in a back room. He posted a $500 bond and is due for arraignment. Also arrested were barmaid Michelle Kay Puskas and John Russell Putnam, linked to the operation. The club owner is Kokinda’s father James Kokinda Sr, who was present but not arrested.
