Vermilion Debates Levy Campaign Silence and Budget Strains
Vermilion school board voted in March to place a 2.9 mill levy on the June ballot but has seen little active campaigning. Superintendent Hook and Vermilion Teachers Association president Tilbury note limited outreach and ongoing budget pressures as residents face higher costs and potential staff cuts amid past non renewals. The proposal would raise about 466 000 dollars yearly starting 1981 with 144 900 dollars earmarked for capital improvements including a roof replacement at Lake Elementary.
