FRANKFURT May 23 The Hindenburg returned from Lakehurst and prepared for a flight to Rio de Janeiro arriving at 4 14 am after 43 hours 9 minutes from Lakehurst. It shaved 19 minutes off its previous homeward time and could have gone faster without captain Ernst Lehmann. The ship flew from New York to Europe in 45 hours 32 minutes and from Newfoundland to Europe in 21 hours. It passed northern Ireland and the English coast dropping carnations and a cross over Keighley England attached to a letter from Johann P Schultz asking the finder to honor a German WWI officer from a grave there. Two boys placed the bouquet on the grave. Schultz, the first westward crossing flyer, continued to Canada, with the next Lakehurst flight slated for June 1.
