Hearing aid industry under fire in Ohio public hearing
Ohio state Consumer Protection Division will hold a public hearing in Cleveland June 3-4 to hear testimony on hearing aid industry practices. The investigation began last fall after consumer complaints, focusing on elderly residents and deceptive sales tactics including free gifts, in-home tests, high pressure urging immediate purchases, and misleading claims about restoring hearing. Dealers allegedly press for annual replacements and claim each model is vital for good hearing.
