Massillon Citizens Threaten Executive After Shooting
Several hundred Navarre residents gathered near the Massillon jail in protest of the shooting of Gale Shaffer, Canton salesman, who is hospitalized with a head wound and eye injury. Samuel W. Bampton, Navarre reform mayor, Harry M. Costles, former Navarre safety director, and Deputy Marshal George Hart faced charges. Cordes was jailed on 65,000 bail for shooting with intent to kill, while Bampton and Hart posted 2,500 bail each for aiding and abetting.
