State Approves Florence School District Transfer

The Ohio State Department of Education approved the transfer of Florence Local School district from Erie County to the Firelands district in Lorain County. The decision counters Erie County board denial and follows a two year effort by Florence residents to join Brownhelm Camden and Henrietta in the Firelands consolidation. A new modern high school is planned within Firelands to serve 200 to 300 pupils, with a 10 day waiting period before the final decision.
