Governor Regrets Action As Tax Bill Coupon Fails
Columbus May 18 Governor White expressed regret as the house taxation committee killed the coupon feature of the sales tax bill by a 14 to 6 vote. Rep Kelfer and Rep Springfield led the strike motion. After the coupon feature was removed Representative Curtis moved to indefinitely postpone further consideration of the bill. Governor White said he yielded regretfully to the committee action in light of recent developments and the need to raise money for relief.

Two Die Unknown Occupants in Lake Avenue Wreck
Deputy sheriffs seek to identify four occupants of a car wrecked at Dead Man's Curve near Lake Avenue and North Ridge Road around midnight. The sedan, speeding south, hit a pole, rolled three times, and rested upright against a tree. Passersby pulled the victims from the wreckage. two women and two men were involved. The vehicle was registered to Angeline Recanik and Marphe Melnick of Lorain. Clothing found at the scene was sent to the county sheriff's office.
