Lorain County praised for modern Lorain jail facility
The Lorain County Correctional Facility opened recently and features climate controlled cell blocks with 158 inmate capacity including separate housing for women. Inside inmates are processed with fingerprinting and photographs then housed in two tiered blocks around central courtyards and a visitors area with a playground for children. The facility, praised by Federal Bureau of Prisons director Norman A. Carlson in Elyria on May 16 1973, is described as humane and up to date rather than a warehouse for men.
