Case Western Reserve campus quiet after protests

At Case Western Reserve University the two day student sit ins by about 300 students ended as campus life returned to normal. The protests followed the conviction of Black nationalist Fred Evans for first degree murder, with students urging the administration to seek clemency or a new trial in a case that killed three police officers in Cleveland. Evans had been sentenced to die in the electric chair on October 22.

Ex Elyrian awarded Bronze Star for Vietnam rescue

Dale R Hibben formerly of Elyria received the Bronze Star Medal for heroism in Vietnam. The 1966 Elyria High School graduate, son of Mr and Mrs David Hibben of Lorain, braved hostile fire while aiding comrades at Junction City. He joined the army in April 1968 and served with Co DP, 2nd Battalion 29th Infantry.

Dr George Mizner a psychiatrist at the University of Colorado reported yesterday a survey of 26000 college students indicated about 30 percent had used some form of illegal drug. A substantial number of the users indicated they would continue drug use Mizner reputed.

Student dies as police fire on hunger price protest

In Corrientes Argentina police opened fire on a university hunger protest. One student was killed and four others were wounded as prices for meals jumped from seven to 12 cents.
