Berea Midpark Avon softball moves to noon and Columbia baseball softball games shift to Monday at home.
Lorain schedule shows Division I finals Westlake vs St Edward at 2 and Lakewood at Elyria at 4 30. Division II first round Tri C West vs Ermielion at 4 with Richfield at 4 Brookside. Division III first round Oberlin at 4 Lutheran West at 4 30. Division IV Lake Ridge at 4 Open Door at 12 30. Softball sectionals list multiple games at 4 30 except Lorain at North Ridgeville and others with varying times. Track Southwestern Conference meet at Finnie Stadium 2 30. Boys tennis division sectional finals at College 2.
Avon’s Nico Mostardi defeated Jake Dubusker of St. Edward 6-0 6-0 in quarters and then beat St. Ignatius’ Eric Schuette 6-1 6-0 to advance to the Division I sectional final at Oberlin College. Caleb Mayer of Lake Ridge beat Nico Banderer 6-2 6-2 to reach district semifinals in Canton.
Lake Ridge Academy coach Lisa Verhoff Medvetz invites boys and girls entering grades 1-9 to a June 23-25 skills camp in Rob Hall from 9:30 to noon. The $60 fee includes a T shirt. Registration via phone or email.
Avon teams dominated with three of four relays titles including 3 200 and 1600 events. Individual winners included Avon’s DeMarco in 400 and Fasciana in 1600 while the girls’ Mikayla Pierce added a shot put win and Hailey Acosta helped secure two relays. North Ridgeville, Vermilion, Lakewood and Elyria Catholic also posted top marks.
Reynolds earned a career best but was miscredited in the 800 as Buckeye and Firelands battled. FL Falcons win 1600 relay 3 28.90 with Adkins Reynolds Lewis Ruffner ahead Lutheran West. Keystone girls dominate with 168 points and multiple wins led by Quillen Peters Wargo.
