Jury rules doctor and firm liable in misdiagnosed cancer case
A Lorain woman awarded 410000 after jurors found Dr Francisco Floro and radiology firm Russell Berkebile & Associates negligent in failing to diagnose breast cancer from 1996 mammograms. They ruled mammograms underexposed and not up to standard and that a next step to rule out abnormalities was needed. The eight jurors, not required to be unanimous, concluded six found negligence in diagnosis and treatment. Hughes and attorney said tumor grew to about three inches before discovery in July 1997.
