Lorain Hospital Fund Receives 300000 Gift From U S Steel Unit

The National Tube Division of U S Steel donated 300000 to the St Joseph Hospital building fund as part of a 1610000 campaign. Urban Koethe announced the gift after Truman H Kennedy authorized it, noting industry growth and the need for expanded hospital facilities in Lorain.

Elyria Annexation Study Targets 230-Home Country Club Estates

The Elyria planning commission studied a proposal by H and J Development Corp to annex 37 acres east and north of Spring Valley for a 230 home subdivision called Country Club Estates. Mayor Keys formed a study committee as residents oppose annexation and the plan would extend city limits toward potential industrial sites along Abbe Road and Gulf Road.

Tornado Hits Silverton Texas Killing and Wounding Many

A Texas tornado struck Silverton and surrounding areas late Wednesday causing at least 20 deaths and about 60 injuries. Severe tornado devastates Siverton and nearby towns

State relations director Ralph Husted said 88 injured in the StOrTR area as a tornado struck Siverton at about 11 am CST. Five bodies were found in several homes, and 25 houses were destroyed with 15 needing repair. The storm downgraded after touching Laverton and Locimey where a woman and two children were injured.
