Two Critically Burned In Blast Man Confesses Chardon Killing

Chardon Ohio reports Leo Cavey, a well driller, confessed to murdering Alva J. Williams 80, a grain and fuel dealer, after arguing over a 90 cent coal bill. He led police to the body hidden along Butternut Road and said the fatal blow came in Williams's car on Center Street.

Avon Lake Gas Explosion Blows House Apart

Two residents, Joseph and Helen Kendera, were severely burned when a gas explosion blasted their two story Avon Lake home on Walker Road. The blast at 10 15 am shattered ends of the structure sending debris into the basement. The couple, who escaped to a neighbor after driving to the hospital, were reported in critical condition at St Joseph Hospital Lorin. The cause was not confirmed but a gas buildup in the basement was suspected. their four children were away at school.
