Lorain council to reconsider sewer rate hike
Lorain City Council will again consider a sewer rate increase after shelving it earlier. The bill would raise the flat readiness to serve charge from 30 cents to 6 for the average home with a 5/8 inch meter and from 90 cents to 9 for 34 inch meters and many businesses in 2017. The EPA approved delaying upgrades on sanitary sewer overflows, allowing lowering unfunded mandate charges but not delaying other upgrades.
