Lorain County Common Pleas Judge Raymond Ewers declared the East 28th Street Flamingo Nite Club a nuisance and ordered it boarded for a year after a 2007 raid. Alcohol may not be served or sold. seized liquor will be sold to cover costs and taxes.
Prosecutors urge Dan Wightman to choose between representing Kevin Kimbrough accused of killing a baby or Ronald McCloud charged with raping and murdering Janet Barnard in a church bathroom. Wightman argues he can defend both, while prosecutors say a conflict exists and favors one client.
William Hodge a 35 year old former Wakeman police volunteer is arrested on aggravated menacing and domestic violence charges after Dawn Hodge reports he threatened to put her and her friend six feet under during a Mother's Day pickup. The couple are divorcing and a protective order exists. Police say the threat followed prior assault allegations and racial slurs against Hodge.
Elyria Ohio Thomas Holmes remains unrepentant after serving eight years for domestic violence. Judge Burge, who reduced a 23 year term to six, refused to alter the sentence after appeals, while Holmes' wife Patty died in a Hamilton County house fire months later. Kilroy said Holmes has led a structured life since release, attending AA and working in Cleveland.
