Vermilion runner aims for Burning River 100 endurance challenge

Graduation for Lorain Young Marine unit adds 14 year old Samantha
The Greater Lorain Young Marine Unit held its fourth trainee platoon graduation on April 28 with 14 year old Samantha Vinoverski of Amherst as the sole graduate. An Elyria Community School eighth grader, she joined six months ago at her parents urging. She received an Officer's uniform and can train new recruits and earn future service ribbons. The unit teaches basic military principles to youths 8 to 18 with no required future military service. Samantha has not decided on a military career.
