Ohio health officials warn summer tick activity. About 5 percent of ticks carry Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, with an average of 35 Ohioans infected annually. In 1982 two Franklin County cases reported. over 10 years 225 fever cases and 11 deaths. Precautions urged when in wooded areas and after returning indoors to check for ticks.
Hugh Beaumont, 72, the clergyman turned actor famed as Ward Cleaver on Leave It to Beaver, died of an apparent heart attack while visiting his son in Munich. Beaumont had a stroke about a decade earlier and left a lasting imprint as the patient father guiding Beaver and Wally.
More than 1,300 retarded citizens and volunteer chaperones from Ohio state and county groups will attend the 10th Retarded Citizens Day on Wednesday at Cedar Point. The event was organized by volunteers and coordinated by the Ohio state office of the Association of Retarded Citizens Inc. Contact Jerry Luczas for more information.
Central Trust Co of Lorain will remodel its 28 year old Sheffield Center branch starting next month. Renovations create six teller stations two safe deposit booths an officers area a conference room and an employees lunchroom. Parking lot changes add three drive in teller bays two with pneumatic tubes and a front automated teller unit. The Sheffield Center branch is the oldest of nine and the cost is not disclosed. Separately Central Bancorporation plans a tender offer for Union Commerce Bank.
